The mission
The West Agronomic Pole is participating in the development of a research project communally shared by fourteen partners including departments, major towns and councils in the regions of "Bretagne" and the "Pays de la Loire".
The mission being to facilitate the emergence of the research projects, to finally be able to develop in the domain of living science : Agriculture, sea products, food trade and health.
The objectives are also to :
- create links between the sharing partners : professionals, researchers, technical centers.
- to coincide the activities between research and teaching for the needs of regional economic dealing.
- to contribute to reinforcing the potential of developing the research projects.
Its thanks this kind of engineering project that the Agronomic West Pole is able to conduct its project to a successful conclusion.
Who we are
The PAO is composed by a team of five persons mobile and multidisciplinary which at the base have no fixed project :

This team addresses itself to collective members which of whom are :
The region of "Bretagne" and "Pays de la Loire",
The department of "Ille-et-Vilaine", "Côtes d'Armor", "Finistère", "Morbihan", "Loire-Atlantique, "Maine-et-Loire", "Mayenne" and the "Sarthe".
The Town of Rennes, the Urbane Communuty of Brest, Nantes, the Regional Community of "Grand Angers".
The method
To answer our partner's expectations, the PAO favorises programs in which the alliance between researchers and professional industries are essential.
To have a better global view of the work being done, the PAO have regulars meetings with their partners and mainly both councils.
Themes
The theme of work issued to the PAO answers to the stakes taken by the West Economic development. They concern the Agricultural farming, Fishing Food trade and Health.
The subject comes under four titles which are :
- The Environment
- Safe Food Reliability
- Quality
- New Products
These programs are very often crossed and are looking for a global quality approach.
History
Since their creation in 1992, the PAO have initiated and animated over 150 projects employing over 450 people who are in charge of different Laboratories or Industries. This program has benefited from fifteen Million euros in subscriptions from different communities, a further supplementary addition of Thirty Million euros were given by research and industrial organisations. To reach this objective, the PAO saw their employees moving up from one in 1992 to five in 2005.
